Faithful light capture with Monochrome-dedicated CMOS image sensor Focusing on achieving the ultimate monochrome expression, the camera features an APS-C CMOS image sensor specifically designed for monochrome photography. Brightness data from each pixel is directly applied to the images without any interpolation processing, resulting in intricate detail, high resolution, and exceptional tonal reproduction for remarkable monochrome quality.
GR ENGINE 7 A new image-processing engine was developed to optimize the performance of the monochrome-dedicated image sensor. Unlike color image sensors, it eliminates the need for interpolation processing, enabling it to fully harness the brightness data from each pixel. This results in exceptional high-definition imagery, intricate details, and enhanced tonal richness.
Unified overall color and texture evokes the world of black-and-white photography The magnesium-alloy body, along with the shutter release button and ring cap, features a matte black finish characterized by a subtle sheen, rich texture, and a smooth, tactile sensation. The semi-gloss black GR logo on the front, the softly illuminated white power button, and other design elements collectively embody the monochrome aesthetic of the camera.
Contrast control with built-in Red Filter Red filters are capable of creating images with striking visual effects. They can intensify the contrast between a blue sky and white clouds by darkening the sky’s tones, or brighten red subjects to make them more prominent. When integrated into the lens unit, a red filter allows for greater creative expression, even in monochrome photography, by manipulating color tones effectively.
An Intuitive Gateway to Monochrome The most frequently used functions for monochrome shooting are thoughtfully positioned for easy and comfortable access. The Fn button is dedicated to toggling the red filter on and off, while the down button on the direct keys is assigned to Image Control, offering a diverse selection of monochrome rendering options.
