The ColorChecker Classic XL, produced by Calibrite, measures 14.5 x 20 inches and consists of a checkerboard arrangement featuring 24 meticulously formulated colored squares across a diverse spectrum of hues. Several of these squares are designed to emulate natural elements of particular significance, including human skin tones, various types of foliage, and the color of a clear blue sky. These squares not only match the colors of their real-world counterparts but also exhibit consistent light reflection across the entire visible spectrum. This distinctive characteristic ensures that the squares accurately represent the colors of natural objects under any lighting conditions and through any color reproduction method.
The ColorChecker serves as an objective benchmark for assessing the true color balance of any color rendition system. It establishes a necessary standard for the comparison, measurement, and analysis of variations in color reproduction across different processes, thereby helping to prevent expensive errors.
- Achieve true-to-life color reproduction
- Minimize tedious trial-and-error color adjustments
- Simplify camera and studio lighting balance
